SEXUAL MESSAGES FROM YOUR SHOES!
Top Image Consultants claim that women, particularly, can announce details of their sexuality via their footwear.
‘Peep’ toe shoes are the foot equivalent of the plunging neckline and the higher the heel, the more blatant the sexual message.
Hookers wear 5” stilettos while nuns wear completely flat, closed-in, lace-up shoes.
The trick is to try to strike a balance between ‘giving it away’ and ‘giving it up’ since neither are flattering images for women. Even shoe care can project a message. A woman who has scuffed, worn and dirty shoes is announcing that she has very little pride in her appearance or herself – and maybe treated accordingly.
Take control of the messages you are sending to the world with your personal appearance. Contact a House of Colour consultant for advice on all aspects of your Image.

Managing your wardrobe
Many of us buy just on a whim, simply because it’s in store and everybody else is wearing it. Fashion differs from season to season and being individuals; with our own unique skin, eye and hair tone not all garments will suit us.
Colour has an incredible ability to make you look healthier, more confident and more attractive. However, it also has the ability to make you look unhealthy, tired and a size larger.
So before you buy any new clothes, ask yourself these vital questions…
- How much of what you’ve already got do you enjoy wearing? Be honest with yourself, unless you feel comfortable and confident in your outfit then you really need to evaluate whether those colours or that style should be in your life.
- What is it that works about the clothes you love? Is it the colour, the fit or perhaps the shape of the garment?
- What is your body shape? You may be shocked to discover that you actually have a small waist rather than the large hips.
- Which are your “wow” colours? Which colour have you received the most compliments in? It is also important to make notes of negative comments you receive for example “are you tired, you look pale” this will give you an insight into which colours not to wear.
- Are you confident about the colour and style of your hair? Is it right for your eye and skin colour, does it suit and enhance you and your personality?
- What kind of details and jewellery suit your personality? Is gold better for you than silver? Chunky bracelets or dainty bracelets?
- Which are the best lengths for skirts, trousers, jackets and tops for you?
Once you understand what works for you and what doesn’t, you will identify what gives you that extra confidence and feel good factor and your wardrobe will then be full of clothes that you look and feel great in. No more disastrous and expensive shopping sprees with mountains of unwanted clothes that don’t give you the radiant glow that you deserve.

Out with the old
These are just some of the excuses we make for keeping clothes in our wardrobes that should long since have been elevated to the great garment cemetery in the sky.
There is nothing more dispiriting than looking in the underwear drawer and seeing heaps of dingy bras and greying knickers; not a good way to start the day. Throw them out, and treat yourself to some new, pretty undies. You’ll be surprised at how they lift your spirits first thing in the morning.
Have you clothes in the wardrobe that are several sizes too small, but one day, you think, you’ll be able to squeeze into them again? Forget it! When that time comes they’re likely to look dated and tired. So, throw them out. If you happen to have some classic garments that truly won’t date, then archive them.
Once you’ve cleared the wardrobe of shoes and clothes that are shabby, old-fashioned, or the wrong size you’ll be able to see more clearly what you need to bring it up to date. A few well-chosen accessories could do the trick- a fantastic belt, new shoes or a wonderful scarf.
If you find it difficult to be objective about your wardrobe enlist our help. Our Image Consultants have no hang-ups about what you paid or where you wore any garment. They can help you clear the clutter and suggest ways of updating what’s left. Make this year a clutter free year.
